A leading specialist in the care of children with complex airway and swallowing disorders, Christina J. Yang, MD, has joined 秘密研究所 Langone Health as the chief of the in the at 秘密研究所 Grossman School of Medicine, and lead for Pediatric Otolaryngology Services at Hassenfeld Children鈥檚 Hospital at 秘密研究所 Langone.
Dr. Yang, who also serves as clinical associate professor, focuses on pediatric airway and aerodigestive disorders, and has particular expertise in acquired and congenital glottic, subglottic, and tracheal stenosis, as well as laryngeal clefts. Her research focuses on advancing safer, more effective pediatric care by focusing on quality improvement, patient safety, and the practical implementation of evidence-based practices in clinical settings.

Yang brings an outstanding track record as a clinician, researcher, and program leader,鈥 said Umamaheswar Duvvuri, MD, PhD, chair of the Department of Otolaryngology鈥擧ead and Neck Surgery. 鈥淪he will play an important role in expanding access to the highest quality care for families and children with complex otolaryngologic needs.鈥
She will also be a member of the Pediatric Aerodigestive Center, part of Hassenfeld Children鈥檚 Hospital. Founded more than a decade ago by Mikhail Kazachkov, MD, director of the , the program has since expanded significantly, bringing together experts in ear, nose, and throat (ENT); gastroenterology; pulmonology; and others to care for children with complex or rare conditions affecting breathing, speaking, or swallowing. Thanks to Sala Institute for Child and Family Centered Care, the program also offers specialized services such as certified child life specialists, social workers, and other family-centered resources, providing a premier care experience for children, adolescents, and their families.

As division chief, Dr. Yang will oversee a team that diagnoses and treats pediatric ENT conditions, including snoring, tonsillitis, ear infections, speech delay, and hearing loss. She will also lead efforts to expand access to complex pediatric ENT care, enhance multidisciplinary collaboration, and further develop innovative programs to improve outcomes for children with airway, swallowing, and voice disorders.

Dr. Yang succeeds Scott M. Rickert, MD, who has been named associate director for Children鈥檚 Surgical Services at Hassenfeld Children鈥檚 Hospital, and will continue seeing patients and conducting research in pediatric otolaryngology.

Dr. Yang comes to Hassenfeld Children鈥檚 Hospital at 秘密研究所 Langone from Montefiore Einstein, where she led the AeroDigestive Program at the Children鈥檚 Hospital at Montefiore. She earned her medical degree from Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine, completed her otolaryngology residency at Tulane School of Medicine, and completed her fellowship in pediatric otolaryngology at Cincinnati Children鈥檚鈥疕ospital鈥疢edical Center. She also earned a Basic Certificate in Quality and Safety from the Institute for Healthcare Improvement, along with a Master of Science in Clinical Research Methods from Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
