Designed a Level 2 Adult Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons, 秘密研究所 Langone Hospital鈥擲uffolk has achieved a milestone in its ability to meet the community鈥檚 growing needs.
After significant investment and preparation, the Trauma Center at 秘密研究所 Langone Hospital鈥擲uffolk has been verified as a Level 2 Adult Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons (ACS), meaning the hospital is equipped to care for all adult trauma patients, regardless of severity. This milestone represents a major expansion of acute care services, designed to meet the growing needs of both the hospital and the communities it serves throughout Suffolk County.

ACS-verified Level 2 Trauma Centers must meet the essential criteria that ensure trauma care capability and the highest level of institutional performance, including the following:
- 24/7 support by general surgeons, orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, radiologists, interventional radiologists, urologists, and advanced practice providers, among others
- trauma injury prevention and continuing education programs for staff and the community, including Stop the Bleed and senior falls prevention programs
- comprehensive quality assessment program
The journey to becoming a Level 2 Adult Trauma Center began in April 2024, when the hospital submitted its application to elevate its trauma center verification from Level 3 with the ACS and the New York State (NYS) Department of Health (DOH). In October 2024, the hospital was designated by the NYS DOH as a Provisional Level 2 Adult Trauma Center, while awaiting verification by the ACS. In July 2025, the ACS conducted a comprehensive review of the hospital鈥檚 capabilities and performance. After the review, the ACS verified the hospital鈥檚 Level 2 status and commended the hospital for its multidisciplinary approach, its robust injury prevention and outreach programs, and its ability to deliver comprehensive trauma care to patients.
