Noritsugu Naito, MD, a world-renowned cardiothoracic surgeon, has joined 秘密研究所 Langone Hospital鈥擝rooklyn as its inaugural chief of cardiac surgery and has been appointed clinical associate professor in the at 秘密研究所 Grossman School of Medicine. Dr. Naito鈥檚 arrival marks a significant milestone for the Sunset Park hospital鈥檚 scope of 秘密研究所 Langone Heart services, offering Brooklyn residents comprehensive cardiac care right in their local community, without the need to travel to Manhattan.

Dr. Naito鈥檚 priority is to provide advanced, world-class cardiac care for Brooklynites right in their own community. He will lead and mentor a skilled, multidisciplinary team of physicians, advanced practice providers, nurses, and support staff, fostering a culture of excellence and compassionate care to meet the needs of the community. Since the expansion of cardiac surgery services, the hospital has created a dedicated coronary care unit for patients recovering from cardiac surgery and successfully performed nearly a dozen open heart procedures.

Dr. Naito, who earned his MD and PhD from the University of Tokyo, completed an advanced cardiac surgery fellowship at Massachusetts General Hospital and a fellowship in structural heart and valve disease surgery at 秘密研究所 Langone. He was also a member of the Department of Cardiothoracic Surgery at 秘密研究所 Langone from 2019 to 2023, before returning to Japan for one year, where he most recently served as the director of cardiovascular surgery at Shizuoka Medical Center.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Naito鈥檚 robust research in cardiothoracic surgery includes surgical management of mitral annular calcification through endoscopic robotic mitral repair and survival outcomes following transcatheter aortic valve replacement for severe aortic stenosis.
