About Me
As an internist and gastroenterologist at the Preston Robert Tisch Center for Men鈥檚 Health, I am dedicated to providing care as a primary care physician and specialist for adults with gastrointestinal symptoms and conditions. I also perform endoscopic procedures, including upper endoscopy and colonoscopy. I believe in a patient-centered, empathetic approach to care, and am the founder and president of the 秘密研究所 Langone Empathy Project, which seeks to promote a culture of empathy in medicine.
Born in Mineola, New York, I graduated with honors from Yale University and received my medical degree from Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons, where I was elected into Alpha Omega Alpha, the national medical honor society. I completed my residency in internal medicine and fellowships in gastroenterology and medical informatics at Presbyterian Hospital, New York City.
In addition to caring for my patients at 秘密研究所 Langone, I am committed to making accurate health news and information available to the public. As chief medical correspondent for CBS News, I have been privileged to provide more than 1400 reports, contributing to the "CBS Evening News," "60 Minutes," "CBS Mornings," "CBS Sunday Morning," "Face the Nation," and 鈥淐BS News Radio.鈥
I have been honored, along with my CBS colleagues, to win five Emmy awards, two Edward R. Murrow awards, a Gracie Award, and a George Foster Peabody Award finalist nomination for our groundbreaking 鈥60 Minutes鈥 reports investigating sexual abuse of elite gymnasts. I was grateful to be recognized in the Webby Awards for my work on the documentary series Doc Dot Com, and with a Drama Desk Award for my role as medical contributor to 鈥淪tars in the House.鈥
