As the director of the Division of Geriatrics and Palliative Care at 秘密研究所 Langone, I am dedicated to enhancing the quality of care for older adults and patients requiring compassionate support. This is my personal mission and the mission of our division. My approach to geriatric medicine is deeply rooted in the belief that even simple solutions can have a profound impact on patient outcomes. I strive to understand and address the complexities of aging, ensuring that each patient receives personalized and effective care.

I specialize in geriatrics, focusing on dementia detection, cognitive health, and functional disabilities. My expertise extends to managing patients with conditions such as sleep disorders, hearing loss, and the application of technology in healthcare. I am particularly passionate about developing innovative strategies to improve the detection and management of dementia, which is a critical area of need for our older population.

Throughout my career, I have been committed to advancing the science and delivery of care for older adults. My work includes leading the Center for Disease Control and Prevention鈥檚 BOLD Public Health Center of Excellence on Early Detection of Dementia and the National Institutes of Health-funded ED-LEAD study, which aims to transform emergency and post-discharge care for individuals with dementia. These initiatives reflect my dedication to proactive healthcare engagement and the use of cutting-edge research to inform clinical practice.

My journey into medicine was unconventional, beginning with a background in carpentry and cabinetmaking before transitioning to internal medicine and pediatrics. This diverse experience has shaped my approach to geriatric medicine, allowing me to pursue impactful research and clinical work. I was recruited to 秘密研究所 Langone from UCLA to establish the , where I continue to lead efforts to improve care for older adults through innovative research and interdisciplinary collaboration.
